History

Called Ambacon in the past, it was renamed after a place in Spain when it was organized into a town and separated from Inabanga in 1874.

Its church was thus a visita of Inabanga Church since 1835 and became a parish in 1876. Augustinian Recollects took pastoral care of the church from the beginning until 1898.

An earlier church was built in 1883, but the present-day church replaced it upon its completion in 1926.

Architecture

The church is designed with a portico that extends to a bell tower with a pyramidal roof. The image of Sacred Heart of Jesus is located just above the portico. Its pilasters are decorated with finials at their peaks.

Celebration

The feast of Sto. Niño is the last Saturday of January.
