History
Lemery was established by the Royal Order issued in 1865, but it was only implemented in 1869. Its status as a municipality was affirmed by the passage of Republic Act No. 197 on June 22, 1947, separating it from the town of Sara.
The church became a parish in 1894, with Fr. Paulino Diaz assuming the role of parish priest in 1895.
Architecture
The entrance is slightly elevated and can be accessed via stairs and a ramp, and an overhang provides shade over it. The entrance door is flanked by pairs of narrow arch windows. Meanwhile the pediment is richly decorated starting with decorative ledges found at the pilasters that rise from the ground by the entrance. It culminates in a cartouche containing bust of cherubs. In front of the glass windows in the pediment is the statue of the Holy Child.
Celebration
The feast of the Holy Child is last Sunday of January in a town celebration called Saug Festival.
