History
Manjuyod was a visita of Tanjay as early as 1849. A church built by Fr. Antonio Moreno, OAR, was consecrated the next year. He was also responsible in overseeing the building of other structures that attracted people to build their dwellings in the town center.
Plans to erect a parish to serve parishioners in Manjuyod and Bais was first proposed by Manuel Valdivieso Morquecho, the governor of the island of Negros, on November 13, 1853.
A letter endorsing the plan by Tayasan parish priest, Fr. Antonio Moreno, was submitted to Bishop Romualdo Jimeno of the then Diocese of Cebu on December 13, 1853.
Bishop Jimeno formally requested the formation of the church to the Governor General on December 24, 1853 and for the Augustinian Recollects to send a priest as the first administrator.
The church became a parish in 1854.
Architecture
The church is built with thick walls. Aside from pilasters, its facade is adorned by arches as seen in the main portal and five niches of saints. Twin bell towers flank the entrance. A big rose window hollowed the wall just above the entrance.

The feast of St. Francis of Asisi is October 4.
