History
The town of Tagapul-an was established by separating from the municipality of Almagre. It was made possibly by virtue of the Republic Act No. 5970, otherwise known as An Act Creating the Municipality of Tagapul-an in the Province of Samar, on June 21, 1969.
Its component barangays are Sogod, Labang-Babay, Baquiw, Mataloto, Guinbarocan, Polang Bato, Balocawe, Nipa, and Luna. Its seat of the government is in Barrio Sogod.
