St. James the Apostle Church in Talalora, Samar

St. James the Apostle Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Talalora, Samar, Philippines.

History

The town of Talalora was carved out of the municipality of Villareal. It is made up of the barrios of Mallorga, Tulac, Talalora (seat of the government), Tatabonan, Navatas and Navatas Guti.

Architecture

The church is simple and low-level, with an overhang above the entrance. It is flanked with the images of Filipino saints St. Pedro Calungsod and St. Lorenzo Ruiz, while a statue of the apostle astride a white horse is installed in a niche in the pediment. The pediment contains rectilinear slit windows and is topped with a cross. The bell tower, a two-post structure, is in the gospel side.

Celebration

The feast day of St. James the Apostle is every July 25, and the town celebrates the Uway Festival.
