History

The mother parish of Catmon Church was Danao Church. A mission station of the Augustinian Recollects, it gained its independence and was declared a separate parish in 1835. The present-day church was completed in 1875.

Architecture

The facade of the church is a gabled portico with slender piers ending in finials and flat, stretched arches. Its roof tapers towards the center to a decorative acroterium. The entrance door is flanked by pilasters as well as blind arches.

Its pediment is high and grand, ornamented with finials on either side. In the center are two open arches one on top of the other, the lower one that bears an icon of a monstrance is flanked by rose windows.

The bell tower is built in the gospel side and terminates into a dome. Its base is quadrilateral, while the belfry occupy each of the upper, hexagonal two floors with alternating open and blind arch windows.
