History
The church was established under the diocese in 1714 and it began as a visita of Mambusao. Jamindan, which was named after an indigenous tree, became a municipal district during the term of Governor Joaquin Dominguez in 1744, and it was led by Abao Dungon. It became a municipality in 1804.
A stone church was built Fr. Tomas Palmis, the first parish priest, in 1882. The image of the patron, St. Sebastian, was brought from Batan, Aklan to the town on a procession of devotees.
Architecture
The church is embellished with cartouches, paired pilasters, dentil, and triglyph. Its entrance is recessed and flanked by columns of Corinthian capital. The wall is richly decorated with scrollwork, volutes, and foliage. The bell tower is located in the gospel side.
Celebration
The feast of St. Sebastian is every January 20, and the town celebrates the Panghaw Festival.
