History

The precursor of Bato was a village of Margen, now called Daan Lungsod (Old Town), whose people consisted of folks from Hilongos and Matalom, in 1833. It was flooded when Ugayon River overflowed in 1840, and the people established their dwellings in the present-day site. Bato became a town by a Royal Decree on February 6, 1886. It was also the same year that its church became a parish.

Architecture

A quadrangular bell tower is built separate from the church in the gospel side. The church’s facade has a portico, and its foundation is clad in stone tiles. Its front wall is pierces with arches such as its entrance and windows. On the pediment a wall extends beyond the roof.

Celebration

The feast day of the Holy Child is January 25.
