History

The parish of Tayasan was established when it seceded from Tanjay Parish Church in 1849. Its religious jurisdiction included the mission stations of Ayungon, Jimalalud, and Manjuyod. Fr. Jose Maria Ruiz assumed the role of parish priest in 1854, and he moved the town center to its present-day location.

A colonial-era church was said to have been completed in 1894.

Architecture

Arches greet the parishioners upon entering the threshold of the church. A half-circular overhang covers the main entrance which consists of three arch openings flanked by rectangular windows with glass installations of holy images. The image of the patron can be found on the overhang. The pediment is made of glass windows. The three-post bell tower is found in the epistle side.

The feast day of St. Anthony of Padua is June 13.
